“Why Is My Smile Upside Down?”

Jacob’s Smile Story

Jacob is a normal 11 year old kid. Like most West Valley kids he loves hanging with his friends, playing outside and watching Fortnight streams live on Twitch.

But for all the great things in his life, Jacob has never loved his teeth or smile. He has felt this way since his permanent front teeth started to come in around age 6.

He is mostly bothered by the fact that his teeth don’t touch and his smile is upside down!

However, Jacob’s parents wondered if he was too early for orthodontic treatment. They always thought that they should wait until all his baby teeth had fallen out before starting braces.

When I sat down with the family during the consultation, I spoke to them about how improving Jacob’s quality of life is a legitimate reason to start treatment, even with baby teeth still present. With that, we welcomed the family into our practice and this is how we helped Jacob address his upside down smile.
